On Friday 20th January we gathered together in the chilly (but dry!) evening at Twinways Orchard. This is our annual orchard tradition, during which we ward off evil spirits and shore up our chances of a successful harvest.
This year we enjoyed mulled cider, apple juice and some warming food and apple cake. Everyone followed Mark (in his Wassail garb) further into the orchard to make a load of noise under the trees. We perform a few traditional chants, sing some songs. We bang pots and pans, toot on instruments and raise a riot of sound. We light a fire and a great energy grows.
